Prepare Your Home for Warm Weather

Transitioning from winter to spring is wonderful, as the days grow longer, the trees fill with singing birds, and the weather warms. But for your home, the onset of spring requires a few maintenance tasks to ensure it’s in tip-top shape.

  • Check your roof. You’re looking for missing and broken tiles or shingles, flashing that’s pulled away, and blocked gutters.

  • Tune up the HVAC system. Twice a year, a good cleaning and checkup by a professional will extend the life of your system and keep it running efficiently.

  • Give the trees a going-over. Foliage that sustained damage over the winter could put your roof — or even your entire home — in jeopardy. Trim back branches from power lines and remove any limbs overhanging your house.

  • Gear up for outdoor living. Clean up garden tools (and the shed while you’re at it). Haul out and hose off the patio furniture and check the BBQ is working.

  • Prep for gardening. Aerating, fertilizing, and mulching now means you’re ready for planting as soon as the weather cooperates. Get more spring gardening tips here.

Start preparing now, and when the warmer weather comes, you’ll be ready to relax and enjoy it!
