Happy Fibonacci Day!

The Fibonacci Sequence is a set of numbers that start with 0 or 1, followed by a 1, and each succeeding Fibonacci number is the sum of the two numbers that came before.

0+1=1, 1+1=2, 1+2=3, 2+3=5, 3+5=8, 5+8=13, 8+13=21, 13+21=34, 21+34=55, etc.

It’s not as famous as Pi Day, but Fibonacci Day — 11/23, the first numbers of the Fibonacci Sequence — is well worth exploring.

The shape of the Fibonacci Sequence can be found all over in nature: seashells, plants, galaxies, even hurricanes. The Golden Ratio, approximately 1.618, is derived from the Sequence and is used to predict patterns in everything from cells to stars.
