As temperatures drop, it’s time to give your home a little seasonal TLC. Check these tasks off your list today, and head into winter with peace of mind.

Exterior Prep: Check overhanging trees for dead branches that could break under snow or ice loads. Protect plants by covering shrubs with burlap or frost cloth and adding mulch to insulate roots from snow and freezing temps. Be sure walkways are clear and ready for shoveling or plowing.
Heating System Check: Make sure your thermostat is working and replace batteries if needed. If yours is programmable, adjust the schedule to match your winter routine and save energy.
Interior Prep: Clean your dryer hose to remove lint and help prevent fire hazards. Clean your refrigerator coils and drip trays for efficient operation. Check your fire extinguishers and replace them if needed. Emergency Preparedness: Emergencies happen! Be prepared for loss of power and heat. Gather extra blankets, flashlights with fresh batteries, and plenty of non-perishable food. Have clean, dry, seasoned firewood available if you have a fireplace or wood stove.
