Eeeek! It’s Friday the 13th!

Got paraskavedekatriaphobia (fear of Friday the 13th)?

Friday the 13th has really only been associated with bad luck since the beginning of the 20th century. And it’s not always bad things that happen on this day; airline tickets are often cheaper if you’re willing to fly on Friday the 13th!

  • A novel from 1907 titled “Friday, the Thirteenth” may have been the catalyst for fear of this day, as it describes a stockbroker bringing down Wall Street.

  • Horror master Stephen King is afraid of 13, as were FDR, Napoleon, and Mark Twain.

  • Superstitious people say that if you can pronounce “paraskavedekatriaphobia,” you’re cured.

  • There are only 12 movies in the "Friday the 13th" horror movie franchise.

  • Numerologists consider 12 a “complete” or perfect number. Poor old 13.
