Slow Down for International Sloth Day

These slow, shy animals are more than cute images to put on t-shirts and socks. Let’s learn about sloths!

  • They live in the tropical rainforests of Central and South America.

  • Sloths spend most of their time in the tops of trees, sleeping — about 15 hours a day!

  • Momma sloths only have one baby at a time.

  • Some of the six species of sloths are threatened because of deforestation.

  • They are related to armadillos and anteaters.

  • They’re quite good swimmers!

  • They navigate their world mostly by touch as their sight and hearing are not great.
