This day marks the official end of the American Revolution with the ratification of the Treaty of Paris in 1784. An American flag with a circle of 12 stars flew over the State House in Annapolis, Maryland, where the treaty was signed. Not to be confused with the signing of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, a year after the war started.
